Baton Rouge area wrestling teams will begin the annual city meet at 5:30 p.m. Friday at Catholic and continue the event at 10:30 a.m. Saturday.

The Bears earned the right to host this year's tournament with a dominant 2012 performance in which they claimed their 10th straight Baton Rouge title.

Continuing that streak is meaningful, but only part of a bigger picture for one of Louisiana's top programs, Coach Tommy Prochaska said.  "We take pride in our ability to be able to win this meet," Prochaska said. "The Baton Rouge meet has always been a sense of pride for teams in the area, and we've been fortunate to win a bunch of 'em.  But we also take each one as an important step toward winning a state title. It's not the end-all-be-all, but it's an important step."

East Ascension, Live Oak, Brusly and Dutchtown will again be among the top contenders after finishing Nos. 2-5 behind Catholic in 2012.
