BEARS LOOK STRONG IN BIG WIN
In a battle of Division I stalwarts, Catholic High of Baton Rouge handled St. Paul's 63-12 in a dual meet Tuesday evening at Baton Rouge. The Bears won 10 of the 12 matches contested while collecting a pair of forfeits.
Defending state champion Brandon Luckett (152 pounds) pinned Chase Cochran at 160 pounds in less than a minute to key the Bears' effort. Phillip Nauta (126), James Claitor (138), Reid Burns (145), Dillon Breaux (170), Myles Nash (220) and K Vincent Fetzer, Jr. (285) all scored pins for Catholic.
Highlighting the Wolves' effort was a solid effort by defending state champion (126 pounds) Connor Campo, who pinned Matthew Mire in the second period at 132 pounds. John Brands also scored a pin for the Wolves at 182 pounds. Defending state champion David Englehardt (138 pounds) did not wrestle for St. Paul's.
Catholic returns to action on Wednesday, December 12 when they host Live Oak in a dual meet while St. Paul's returns to action in the Capital City Classic at Tallahassee, Florida this Friday and Saturday.
