CRUSADERS, RAIDERS SHOW WELL ON FRIDAY
Defending Division I champion Brother Martin continues its superb wrestling season, sweeping five matches against top-flight opposition at the prestigious Lone Star Duals at Grand Prairie, Texas on Friday.
Rummel fared well, winning 3-of-5 of its matches.
The Crusaders rolled over Southmoore, Oklahoma 59-9, St. Thomas (Texas) 67-7, Arlington Bowie (Texas) 50-15, Weatherford (Texas) 57-12 and University (Florida) 1-0 (by forfeit).
Leading the way for Brother Martin was Kyle Delaune, who scored three pins at 182 pounds. David Drago (113), Austin Meyn (126), Logan Labry (145), Yehia Riles (195) and Ross Brister (285) each scored a pair of pins in the four matches wrestled. Stephen Rumney (106), Taylor Gambill (113), Austin Schiro (120), Mason Williams (132), Tyler Robertson (138), Pierce Williams (138), Patrick Hoppe (145), Devin LeBlanc (152), Jordan Wright (152), Daniel Albrecht (170), Aaron Gambino (170) and Jacob Clapp (220) all had one pin for the Crusaders.
Rummel scored wins over Keller Central (Texas) 47-24, Arlington (Texas) 35-34 and Hebron 56-18. The Raiders lost to Staley (Missouri) 43-24 and Midwest City (Oklahoma) 63-18.
For Rummel, Michael Darwin was tremendous, scoring pins in all five of his matches at 170 pounds. Devyn Breaud (106), Matt Calcote (126), Aaron Maddox (182) and Ryan Hanley (195) each had three pins for the Raiders while Joe Kerry (138) scored a pair of falls. Damien Tornabene (113), Tyler Mire (120), Guillermo Suarez (160), Tyler Fontana (220) and Austin O' Donnell (285) each had one pin for Rummel.
