Wrestling: South Plaquemines edges Thomas Jefferson

HURRICANES WIN IN LIMITED MATCHUP

 

South Plaquemines tuned up for the state wrestling meet with a 30-24 dual meet win over Thomas Jefferson.  Only five matches were contested with the remainder resulting in forfeits or double forfeits.

 

For South Plaquemines, Christopher Danos (126) outscored Ryan Daigle 12-10 in a great match while James Graham (132) fought off Jeffrey Kirkland 13-9.

 

For Thomas Jefferson, Logan Griffin (106) pinned Chris LeBoeuf in the first period, Spencer Savoie (113) pinned Tony Sode in the first period and Brent Matherne (138) pinned Deiontae James in the second period.

The Hurricanes claimed victory in the dual through four forfeit wins while Thomas Jefferson had one forfeit victory. The remaining matches were double forfeits.

 

The state wrestling championships are set for February 15-16 at the Pontchartrain Center in Kenner. Thomas Jefferson finished third in the team standings while South Plaquemines was 11th in the state in the 2012 Division III competition.
