Annual Ken Cole Lafayette Invitational Tournament

Comeaux High School, Lafayette, Louisiana
With only two wrestlers in the finals Rummel was still
able to claim its third consecutive Ken Cole championship by defeating Catholic
by 31.5 points. Comeaux placed highest among the public schools by scoring
196 points to claim the third place award. Mike Newberg of Parkway
defeated an outstanding sophomore, David Bonin of Comeaux, in the 160 lb. weight
class. Mike Newberg and Andre Broussard of Lafayette noth became two-time
Ken Cole champions. Mitch Trahan from Comeaux defeated Joey Dillon from
Parkway to claim the 130 lb. championship and also received the lower-weights
Outstanding Wrestler award.
